Science of Diving Specialty Course in Denver

Why take this course?

This program provides an in-depth and detailed study of physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and diving equipment. It is required training for most SSI Dive Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs.

Science of Diving

The Science of Diving adventure starts by completing the Section Reviews in your digital online manual and taking the online final exam. No worries, you can take it as many times as is needed to pass.  Next, you’ll attend one of our scheduled online learning sessions where the instructor will review; calculating SAC rates, how to use a dive table, equipment specific to a wreck dive, marine life injuries, and answer any questions you may have about the material. This course is designed to complement the SSI Divemaster program, or can be taken as a standalone course for those who really want to get into the scientific details of diving.

How long will it take?

  • The online session: approximately 1 hour

What will you need?

  • Show proof of being an SSI Referral diver, Open Water diver or hold an equivalent certification from another recognized training agency.
    • Unfortunately you will not be able to participate in the program without the necessary proof of certification
  • Be at least 10 years old
  • Have a personal MySSI account.  Be sure to upload a digital photo to your account and enter a complete address. (You’ll need this in order to access your online learning material.)

The A-1 instructor will send you a confirmation email one week prior to the online course and request you send the completed documents found using the link above.  This is necessary in order to process your online specialty certification.

  • Online learning material and digital certification card
  • Online Session to review the materials, online exam, and answer questions
