Search & Recovery Diver Specialty Course in Denver

Why take this course?

Have you ever dropped something in the water? Are you looking for lost treasure? The A-1 scuba Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface.

Search & Recovery Diver

Once you complete four SSI specialties and digitally log 24 dives you will automatically be sent your digital Level 3/Advanced Diver Recognition card. There is no charge for this certification recognition.

What will I do?

Your Search & Recovery Diving adventure starts by completing the 4 chapters in the digital online manual. Next, there will be a classroom session to answer any questions you may have about the material, clarify important points, and discuss the open water dives. During the pool session, you will learn search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques, solutions to potential problems, search patterns, and safe object recovery using lift devices. Finally, during your (2) open water dives, you will put into action the skills you have learned.

What will I need?

  • SSI Search & Recovery online digital manual (included in course fee)
  • Dive computer (computers can be rented)
  • Compass
  • Dive slate (optional, but highly recommended)
  • Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) and Finger Reel (optional, but highly recommended)
  • Show proof of being an SSI Referral diver, Open Water diver or hold an equivalent certification from another recognized training agency.
    • Unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in the program without showing the A-1 professional proof of certification.
    • While you may register for the specialty course as a Referral Diver, you must complete your open water certification dives before you can complete any specialty course dives.
  • Be at least 12 years old
  • Have a MySSI account.  Be sure to upload a digital photo to your account and enter a complete address. (You’ll need this in order to access your online learning material.)

Be sure to download, print, complete all required areas on each form (name, date, initials, etc.) and hand the completed documents to the instructor, when you arrive for your class.

VERY IMPORTANT

If you have been requested to submit a medical evaluation signed by a medical professional, please note that we (SSI and A-1 Scuba) cannot accept the form with any comments, whether handwritten or typed, regardless of who put them there.

The form should be seen as a yes/no type of approval and any stipulation added by anyone effectively negates the validity of the form, even if everything else was done correctly.

The medical form itself was put together by highly qualified medical professionals (NOT SSI) and neither SSI, A-1 Scuba or their Instructors, the diver, or the medical professional are authorized to amend it beyond simply filling it out and signing as indicated.

If anyone feels that changes need to be made to the form, please inform SSI and we will follow up, but the current version remains in effect until changes are officially implemented and a new version is published, should that be deemed necessary.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE PARTICIPANT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ENTER THE WATER UNTIL THE PROPER DOCUMENTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED, SIGNED, AND REVIEWED FOR ACCURACY BY YOUR INSTRUCTOR.
