Scuba diving and obtaining your scuba certification is an experience unlike any other. However, it’s easy to get caught up in the belief that you can only take scuba near the coasts or the Gulf of Mexico. But with A-1 Scuba, you’ll be able to start, grow, and maintain your scuba skills through several family-friendly dive programs. These safe, affordable adventures are a great way to explore a whole new world without having to travel thousands of miles.
Nature’s Hot Tub
From a distance, Homestead Crater isn’t necessarily much to look at. Its bulbous rock formation looks similar to the other bulbous rock formations nearby. While the rocks reach up to 55 feet high, there’s little to hint to the discovery that awaits you inside.
Through a tunnel that leads you into the crater’s inner sanctum, you’ll find one of the continental United States’ only warm water dive sites. The natural hot spring keeps water temperatures high, regularly reaching 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The warm waters make this a popular spot for paddle boarders, swimmers, and scuba divers.
It may also surprise you to learn that the rock dome is still growing, too, due to the rising steam of the hot spring. As the steam builds over thousands and thousands of years, it ever so slowly builds pressure and pushes the domed roof up.
With a natural skylight letting the warm Utah sun filter in, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another spot like it in the United States. The mineral deposits running up and down, and mixing with the water have sparked a reputation of the hot spring’s healing properties.
A-1 Scuba has available dates in both October and December of this year, making it a great Christmas gift for the family that likes to explore. You can view available dates directly on our website.
The Homestead Crater is also the perfect place to finish your open water scuba certification. Please note that if it’s been more than six months since your completion of class/pool training, you must call A-1 Scuba before purchasing a spot in this diving program.
Under the Sea (In Downtown Denver)
It almost sounds like a riddle: What’s the only place in a city that’s a mile high where you can find yourself in the ocean? Well, the answer is the Downtown Aquarium, of course.
Scuba diving in the Denver aquarium gives you access to some of the world’s coolest, strangest, and wondrous underwater creatures. You could find yourself swimming among eels, rays, turtles, and even sharks. If you’re the romantic sort, you may also find yourself with an opportunity to pop the question in a way that no one will ever forget.
For first-timers who are at least ten years old, we also offer the opportunity to try scuba every Saturday and Sunday. This affordable dive program allows you to dip your toes into scuba waters (although we hope you’ll dip a whole lot more) in a safe, controlled environment.
If you’re already scuba certified and looking to explore, we also offer several programs to get you face-to-face with some of nature’s most exotic creatures:
- Diving with the Fish/Diving with the Sharks
- Ecology Specialty Diver Course
- Open water dives
- Swimming with the Fish
- Shark Cage Experience
