Swim Programs

A-1 Swim & Aquatics is a a registered Starfish Aquatics Institute and PADI Swim School Facility.
Starfish Swimming is a total learn-to-swim and water safety curriculum for all ages and stages of aquatic development—toddlers through competitive swimmers.

Programs are offered for children ages 6 months to 12 years of age.

Program Details:
$25.00 Annual Registration Fee or $45.00 for a Family

  • $100.00 for One Month of Lessons 1X a week (per person)
  • $160.00 for One Month of Lessons 2x a week (per person)

Swim Program Descriptions

swimming lessonsStar Babies

Age: 6 – 18 montsh
1x Per Week – 30 minutes
Saturday 7:15 am

One parent or caregiver for each child participates. Students work on the following skills with parent of caregiver: drowning prevention, balance holds, front and back floats, jumping, reach and throw, vertical and horizontal submersion, bobbing, kicking, pulling, and much more!

Age: 16 – 36 months
1x Per Week – 30 minutes

Saturday 7:50 am, Tuesday 3:30 pm, Wednesday 3:30 pm, Thursday 3:15 & 4:00 pm
One parent or caregiver for each child participates. This is where the child is comfortable in the water and continues building on the skills of star babies with floating, jumping, bubbles and more.

swim schoolSwim School: Goldfish

Age: Recommended for children ages 3 – 5 but varies depending on the child
2X per Week – 40 minutes
Monday 3:15 pm, Tuesday 4:00 pm, Thursday 4:00 pm)
Class size is a maximum of four students for each group. Children in this level are comfortable in the water and are able to float and submerge with minimal assistance. The main focus is water safety and water survival skills.

Age: Recommended for children ages 3 – 7 but varies depending on the child
2X per Week – 40 minutes
Monday 4:40 pm, Tuesday 4:40 pm, Wednesday 4:00 pm
Class size is maximum of four students for each group. This class is for children that can float and submerge, roll from their back to their front without assistance

Age: Recommended for children ages 5 – 9 but varies depending on the child
2X per Week – 40 minutes
Monday 4:00 pm & 4:40 pm, Tuesday 4:00 pm, Wednesday 4:00 pm & 5:25 pm
Class size is maximum of four students for each group. Children in this level can perform assisted side glide , unassisted streamline, and can move forward through the water by kicking and pulling.

Age: age varies 
2X per Week – 40 minutes
Saturday 8:25 am, Monday 4:00 pm, Wednesday 4:40 pm, Thursday 4:40 pm

Class size is maximum of four students for each group. Children in this level can perform unassisted side glide and other side glide/streamline combinations.

Ashlyn

Role: Swim Instructor and A-1 Aquatics Assistant

Diving Credentials:  PADI Rescue Diver and PADI Starfish Swim Instructor

Real Job: Lucky enough……….this is my real job!

Personal Passion: Anything that gets me outside and/or in the water

Non-Diving Activities:  Traveling, spending time with my family and hanging out with my puppy, Reef

Favorite Food:  Does coffee count?

Favorite Dive Location:  TPalancar Reef, Cozumel

Dan

Role: Instructor and Swim Instructor

Diving Credentials:  PADI Starfish Swim Instructor, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, & EFR Instructor.

Personal Passion: Traveling to places I’ve never seen before and listening to all kinds of music.

Non-Diving Activities:  Backpacking/camping or just about anything outdoors; working out (running); playing & watching sports (especially football), hanging with family & friends; and ping-pong!

Favorite Food:  Any type of rice & pizza.

Favorite Dive Location:  The Hawaiian island of Niihau.

Wendie

Role:  Training & Aquatic Manager, Downtown Aquarium Dive Guide, A-1 group trip leader and PADI Starfish Swimming Instructor Trainer

Diving Credentials: IDC Staff Instructor, EFR Instructor, DAN DEMP Instructor, Handicapped Scuba Association Instructor and PADI Starfish Swim Instructor Trainer.

Real Job: Playing at A-1

Personal Passions:  I enjoy working with kids and experiencing different cultures around the world.

Non-Diving Activities: Volleyball, Running (I think), Skiing, camping and enjoy hanging out with good friends.

Favorite Food: Hot Wings

Favorite Dive Location:  Philippines and the Galapagos

Julia

Role:  Assistant Instructor and Swim Instructor

Diving Credentials: Assistant Instructor and PADI Starfish Swim Instructor

Personal Passions: Helping animals and caring for the environment. Volunteering at an animal shelter is one of my memorable experiences.

Non-Diving Activities: Helicopters, hiking, camping, backpacking, snowboarding, wakeboarding, rock climbing, traveling, playing Australian Football for the Denver Bulldogs.

Favorite Food: Pizza and dark chocolate…the vegan version of course!

Favorite Dive Location:  I love any dive destination that includes shipwrecks. Also, since I am from St. Louis, Bonne Terre Mine holds a special place in my heart and I hope to dive all 20+ trails one day. Can I also add Great White Cage Diving? They are such beautiful and graceful creatures.
