About DAN Instructor Courses…
Our DAN Instructor Qualification Courses (IQC) train and educate qualified scuba diving educators to plan, manage, conduct and promote dive safety. They are your pathway to becoming a DAN Instructor. Successful completion results in certification recognizing the Instructor Candidate’s understanding and performance of the knowledge and role-model teaching techniques necessary to prepare student divers to prevent and manage diving incidents. Before starting any of the programs you’ll need to complete the Core Module online at www.dan.org This will introduce you to DAN, the DAN Training philosophy and serves as the introduction for all other DAN Training programs.
Step 1 – Be a DAN America member
Step 2 – Be an active status scuba diving leader with your training agency (divemaster, dive controller, assistant instructor, diving instructor)
Step 3 – Complete the DAN Core Module online at DAN.org
Step 4 – Participate in an Instructor Qualification Course (see three options above) with a DAN Instructor Trainer
Step 5 – Begin teaching DAN programs when you receive confirmation from DAN
The IQC takes approximately 1-2 days to complete, depending on your course selection.
Instructors must maintain active teaching status with DAN in order to conduct DAN training programs. In order to maintain active teaching status, DAN Instructors must teach or assist with teaching each course they are certified to teach, once within a 24-hour period.
