Diving Emergency Specialist (DES)

Get recognized as a DIVING EMERGENCY SPECIALIST!

DAN is challenging all interested divers to pursue and achieve the level of Diving Emergency Specialist (DES), a training recognition program designed to commend divers who have continued their education and training in order to obtain knowledge and be both better buddies and better divers.

To receive your Diving Emergency Specialist certification from DAN, please submit to DAN Training a completed copy of the DES application along with photocopies of current certifications for the following:

1. Be a rescue level (or higher) diver
2. Hold a current CPR and First Aid certification
3. Hold a current certification in Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries
4. Complete three of the following:
   • Advanced Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries
   • First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries
   • AEDs for Scuba Diving
   • On-Site Neurological Assessment for Divers
   • Or current DAN Diving Emergency Management Provider certification, which includes Advanced O2

This program is open to any diver.

To receive this recognition, submit your application (PDF: 51 KB) directly to DAN Training with photocopies of all the required certifications and the $20 application fee.

DES recognition includes:

• A plastic Diving Emergency Specialist card
• DES certificate
• DES shoulder patch
• Invitations to preview future DAN Online Seminars before they are released to public at no charge
• Coupon good for 10% off oxygen units or accessories
• Any diver who completes the requirements between June 1 and Dec. 31, 2010, will receive a specially designed T-shirt.
