Recently, Jesse Murphree, decorated war veteran and Dave Hosick, one of our amazing divers with disabilities were filmed diving in Cozumel along with celebrity diver Jean Michel Cousteau. Decorated Disabled Veteran, Jesse Murphree, Gold Medalist, Missy Franklin and Missy’s friend and teammate, Abby Cutler started their open water certification recently. The open water certification is in preparation for Kurt Miller’s and MakeaHero.org film, The Current which tells the story of six individuals from all walks of life that faced incredible obstacles, found the drive and inspiration to overcome their disabilities, and became real everyday heroes. Through water sports, each has ultimately discovered or rediscovered freedom of movement.

A-1 Scuba has started a program to help Wounded Warriors have a scuba experience in their new pool, and several A-1 Scuba Vets are assisting these men and women on a monthly basis. I know how the current fragile economy has effected all of us, but as a Vet wife and one blessed with good health to scuba dive, I’m totally in support of our returning warriors who have served and sacrificed for our freedoms we all hold so dear.
